With extreme sadness comes extreme happiness, with extreme excitement comes extreme boredom, extreme nicety makes way for extreme meanness. That is me in a nutshell at the moment... emo and confused.

1. Extreme Happiness:
- New laptop (thanks to Will for helping a girl out)
- Yumi arriving in Perth and meeting her very soon (G'daaaay!)
- Sports and City to Surf (I wanna be fit!!!)
- Getting my new Kids Sized nike runners.

2. Extreme Sadness:
- too sad to list. LOL but put articled clerkship in there

3. Extreme excitement:
- As above at No 1. But add in Beauty and the Beast, Yallingyup, and add articled clerkship in here too.

4.Extreme Boredom:
- Work.... period ;)

5. Extreme nicety:
- Being happy and friendly to everyone

6. Extreme meanness:
- Being complete opposite to No 5. to all my closest loved ones.

Why Engineer me? well because lately, I that's what I have been doing. At work, been reading lots about engineering and its quite interesting, but hard. Its practical stuff that the average dooude has no clue about.

Things like welding. Look I had no idea about how complicated welding can be, but apparently in steel, you can add other materials in order to make that steel stronger (which is good for buildings and stuff) but when it comes to welding, it causes heat affected zones (HAZ) and the welded part decreases in strength by 30% (in comparison to welding non treated/strengthened steel) which could lead to micro fractures (which is bad). To my understanding, you then need to neutralise the HAZ by instead of putting, say, a 900c heated steel onto a normal temp base steel, you should heat up that base steel to about 600c, and therefore slow down the cooling process, therefore more effective welding.

LOL If I am wrong. correct me.

There is other stuff that I am learning about things like Process Plant, tailings dump, scrubber, cyclones, puddle... so many new terms! What has stumped me is "tracer test" but this entry is already getting hell boring. I bet you all have stopped reading by now. *sigh*

I can't believe its happened to me again.... I cannot sleep in! I wanted to have a nice lateish morning. Catch up on the sleep from the habit of waking up so early in the morning!!! *sigh* So I thought I'd write a decent blog entry to make up for the appalling lazy ass last entry.

So whats up in A-Town? Well as I said in my previous post, I have been working full time. I have just finished my second week of full time-ness, and I must admit, it was a hard one. I found that around 2.30 - 3.30 it is my deadzone. I am so zoinked out that I am hardly productive. *sigh* I feel so bad. I can't help it! I think it was also attributable for the crazy sat night at Metros.

It is also a downer that we do not have a computer. I mean, not that I want to procrastinate, but by having a computer at least you can have a few mins break looking at your email or something... I mean working 7.5 hours flat is hard stuff. One day I was particularly down... and attempted to amuse myself... Meet my Happy Mandarin:

Before & After

Hehehehe... yea he rocks. I loved him. I felt so bad when it came to eating him. Because when I made him, the smile just made me feel better. LOL It was like "you are ridiculous!" I felt like the Hannibal, peeling the skin off my victim...

Anyways, what else... Oh yea, Mich and I enrolled in 中文棵. (Chinese class)

现在我很高兴! 我应该还学习汉语!
Now I am very Happy, I should really study Chinese more!

When we went to enrol, Mich picked me up from work during my lunch break and we rushed to northbridge. The person who enrolled us 是我们的老师! (was our teacher). She asked us whether we had studied Chinese before, and we said that we had learned in China. She then broke out in Chinese:

Teacher: 你喜欢北京马?
(Do you like beijing?)

Me: (stunned): uh *nods* 我喜欢。
(I like.)

Teacher: 你的妈妈爸爸中国人?
(Are you parents Chinese?)

Me: 不是, 我的妈妈是 Indonesian 和我的爸爸美国人。
(No, my mom is Indonesian, and my dad is American)

Teacher: Oh... *nods* 为什么你学习汉语?
(Why did you study Chinese?)

Me: um... *thinks of a reason she can say in chinese* 因为很多我的朋友会说汉语。
(because a lot of my friends can speak chinese)

Teacher: I cant remember how she asked, but she asked whether I could read and write chinese... I said 一点 (a little)

She then turned to her computer and went to a website with Chinese Characters, she then asked me to read it, there were a few that I could read, but she made me read ones that I couldn't *sigh* and I admit, I had forgotten a lot of them. She then asked whether we could type in Chinese. Mich and I said yes. She then came to the conclusion that even though our spoken Chinese is pretty good, are reading and writing is not strong enough to start in the second year of Chinese. So she put us into the second semester of the first year. I guess thats good. I mean I did wanna learn how to write better, and I wanted to revise on a lot of the Chinese I had forgotten. But yea... now I am excited!!!

Only thing is, my classes are on Tuesday nights and Thursday nights, meaning that I have to miss out on some netball games :( *sigh*

Anywho... thats me so far. Pretty boring post...

再见!

I had to blog. I am feeling all squirmish, bubbly and goosepimpley all over despite the fact that I'm feeling quite warm. The news may seem minor to most, but for me it has changed my whole attitude and mood!

This semester at uni has been pretty damn stressful. "Good one" I would mutter to myself, "So much for choosing easy units to make your last semester at university less stressful." You see, I thought that since I've always done quite well in assignments as opposed to exams, and by choosing units that had no exams, it would allow me to have a enjoyable, stress-free last hoorah before I leave this institution. Instead, what I had done, was create a whole lot of "inter semester" stress in lieu of the lack of "intra" or "post" semester stress with the whole exam period. So... this whole semester has been a count down of assignments.

1. Criminology - 50% weight
2. Advanced Torts Assignment 1 - 50% weight
3. Employment Law - 30% weight
4. Advanced Torts Assignment 2 - 50% weight.

Disgusting really. I have so far laboured away at 3, and am working on the last Advanced Torts Assignment which is due this Friday.

Last night I got a message from a classmate of mine from Criminology, asking how I went with the assignment as himself and a friend had failed it. I totally went into freaking out mode. I had not gone to lectures since the Lecturer merely reads off his very detailed notes, and I had rationalised it with "well, I can spend better time doing my assignments than going to the lectures." I then remembered another friend who had done the unit before telling me that the Lecturer was a hard marker. So... I messaged another classmate who had done the unit and asked how he went. He said he passed, giving me some light of hope. What was a night of me being pumped up full of stress from my Torts Assignment and other matters, had just increased 1000x fold.

I couldn't think. I couldn't read. I played poker on facebook and won 2000 though. (YAY). But still I had a sick feeling in my stomach... I sick feeling that hey, I might just scrape through to pass this semester, or just miss out on passing. I have been working so very hard lately with no avail. Nothing has been going my way... everyone is on my back for something or some reason and I truly feel like cracking.

This morning I woke up early, packed my bags and went to uni to collect the assignment. I had done it such a long time ago, I couldn't remember what I had written. I remember changing my assignment on the advice of the 2 classmates who had failed... which made me feel like stabbing myself in the stomach. "Idiot!" So I went to the law office, collected it... and waited till I got well outside the law building so I don't feel the ghosts of past law students who had become politicians, lawyers... judges, looming over me and my mark, laughing and saying "You never had it in you little girl."

So I was at the mid point from the law building and reid library, I opened my assignment to my first page a few ticks here and there (but in law school, a whole lot of ticks could still lead you to a mere CR... a puzzling anomaly). There was a comment at the bottom of my introduction "Good. You have told me what you set out to do." Throughout my paper there were comments like "Good Show me," few of them were points to note like "This is a major rationale of criminal justice systems worldwide," and "At the Fed Level, Eg the 'Alcopop' tax." But me being me, I am always second guessing myself, there is always this strong sense of self doubt. So I get to the final page. There is this HUGE feedback comment. I saw the mark and let a sigh of relief.

"I passed!" I told Will over the phone. I had promised to tell him my mark. "Thats good!" he said. "I got a 73!" I blurted out... I couldn't hold it any longer! I was soooo happy. Finally... something to demonstrate to me that "No look Anna, your not a total lost." I felt and feel so relieved. I feel like this sense of vindication... like "Yeah! Take it pompus law school! The non-conforming law student CAN bring something worthwhile to the table."

Yea... I'm beeming. But now, I should really get to my Advanced Torts Assignment. I promised myself that I would work extra hard on this assignment in "celebration" of my small, but huge personal achievement. *Hoorah!*

I just had to blog this... I have been having a pretty stressful time lately with all my assignments. This semester just doesnt feel like its going to end any time soon. Will came over to cheer me up and to be a study buddy... he also brought me some orchids!!! I love orchids! My favorite flower! But yea... this is what I did with them! My mom told me "go and cut some plants from our garden. One stem looks funny." So I went on a hunt and this is what I came up with! It makes me happy just looking at it... sooo pretty!

What is also pretty is Annie Liebowitz's Disney Dream Portrait Series... Awww they are sooo pretty makes me wish I was famous so I could be photographed as one of the Disney characters... These are my favourites soo far...

Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella

Rachel Weisz as Snow White

Roger Federer as King Arthur

AHahahah Not really... But!!! I am in the latest WHO Magazine!!! (November 12 2007 Edition) I am on the page for the Sunglasses Hut "Lookfamous" Competition!! I bought it yesterday!!!

I entered this competition because I wanted to get new sunglasses! The thing is, if you enter it, and you send the pic to your phone, you will get $25 off your next purchase at the Sunglasses Hut. So I did it! It was something to do while I was bored.

Then a couple of days (maybe a week later) I get a miss call from a weird number. I listen to my voice message, and it was the a man from the advertising company of WHO magazine. He was calling to say that they liked my entry and wanted to put it into the next WHO magazine edition and he wanted to make sure I had no problems with them doing so.

So yea... fingers crossed... maybe I'll win something!!!! Please vote for me!!! Click HERE to Vote. Go to "Galleries" then "Search" and type in "Shortiee" = )

Ok...

Accident Prone-ness
I'll have my rant for the day. WHY am I so accident prone?!?!? Why is my Achilles' heel my right ankle??!?!?

How embarassing, I was walking to my car with Jeff Ha, from the Law building after our final Comm Pract Class (WehehehEee no more comm pract tutes) and as we were talking I just randomly rolled my ankle! I was wearing thongs for god sakes!!! WHY!?!?!?

Its soo annoying.. now my ankle is tender...its still good. Not seriously injured... but still tender... like it stings when I sit cross legged. AUGH! How am I to stop rolling it??? Its soo Bad.

Naruto
Damn you Dean! Now I am hooked on Naruto!!! Its soo cool. I think I like it because it has the same format as Harry Potter, LOTR etc... the whole comradeship, teamwork, people with different skills, talents that are brought together and to fight for a common purpose.

Im a sucker for that. LOL

I love all things French
I went to 'Sugar and Spice' in Joondalup to obtain Will's bday cake... the owner is this Frenchman and he has won some awards for his pastries, cakes and pies... Augh.... they are to die for! Walking in there, it was jammed packed for a little stall and awww the pastries... sooo beautiful, so deliciously sweet looking... so precious...

I can see why Marie Antoinette loved her cakes now... and said "Let them eat cake."(Referring to the starving impoverished French people at the time... yes it is a bit rude and pretty mean but hey... they the French Pastries are just jewels!)

I bought one... yea... naughty.

A Lemon... something or other...
(I was too distracted by how cute and sweet it was)

Now... I LOVE the movie of Frank Miller's 300
- it was super mega awesome... and Gerard Butler has been and still is my ongoing fave actor. But check this out, Clem showed me this vid where King Leonidas in the movie is mouthing out "THIS IS SPARTA!" but some clever dooude has taken his lips and synced it up with "RED SAUCE ON PASTA!"

I find that Will and I cannot stop saying it! So me TRYING to be creative, I had made my own little addition of this spoof. By the same token as the above, I have taken an original (I've taken this outta the actual Frank Miller's 300 comic) and then added the "Red Sauce on Pasta" bit.

Check it out below (might wanna click on the picture to see the whole thing):
